The 145 acre Mauhs property in the Town of Richmondville was protected in 2010. An actively managed tree farm, the land is owned by the family of the late John Mauhs, former president of the Schoharie Land Trust. The property and its protection in perpetuity is a fitting tribute to John's commitment and love for the land. The Mauhs property includes substantial evergreen plantations, as well as mixed hardwoods, beaver ponds, and a small lean-to used for family gatherings. The parcel sits at the headwaters of Heathen Creek, and is near extensive tracts of State Forest lands.
